Custom Weapons: Advanced Designs

In this time and age, there’s a proliferation of custom weapons on the net.  People nowadays are more curious about them so they make them.  Some people make it as a hobby, while some make it for more serious reasons like self-defense and self-preservation.

A known advantage of homemade weapons is the fact that you can easily make them at home.  A lot of these can be made using common household materials or materials that you can easily buy from a hardware store.

Here are some homemade weapons that I’m sure you’re familiar with:

  • Spud gun
  • Crossbow
  • Slingshot
  • Stun gun
  • Knives
  • Bow and arrow

…and the list goes on and on.  Don’t get me wrong.  They’re very effective if done correctly and that’s the reason why a lot of people make them.  However, there are some people who are fascinated with advanced designs particularly military-style and special purpose weapons.  Most of them know their history and they know that these weapons have won wars in the past so they must be really effective.

Although it goes without saying that a lot of people stay away from them.  Most, if not all of them are very illegal and you can be tagged as a terrorist just by making them.  They are also highly dangerous so a lot of people who want to keep their limbs and life stay away from these custom weapons.  With that being said, this guide is for information purposes only.

Flamethrowers were once feared in wars for the destruction they make.  Being hit by a flame from a flamethrower guarantees a slow and painful death.  Although homemade flamethrowers nowadays are used to burn wasp nests, bee hives, ant nests and the likes.

There are a lot of plans for homemade flamethrowers available but most of them are not that effective, or are too effective to the point of being dangerous.

You can easily see videos online of “flamethrowers” which are basically aerosol cans pointed at candles.  There are also the ones made by using super soakers.  But this is an advanced design:

This design is composed mainly of two parts – the tank and the gun assembly.  As you can probably see, the tank is made of PVC pipes unlike other flamethrowers of the same size that have tanks made of metal.  There are even some tanks made out of used fire extinguisher tanks.  This is why this design uses denatured alcohol because the PVC pipes won’t be able to handle gasoline.  This is how the tank looks like outside the bag:

The gun assembly is made of metal pipes and this is how it looks like up close:

So how does this design stack up against other designs?

There’s no question that explosives are very effective.  A soldier can be pinned down and outnumbered but a single grenade can wipe out a whole platoon.  The same goes for bombs, landmines and the likes.  This is why they’re often referred to as anti-personnel weapons.

There are also a lot of designs for homemade bombs including the widely popular, sparkler bombs.  These are bombs made out of hundreds of sparklers taped tightly together.  Done right, it can also do a lot of damage:

But there are a lot of advanced designs that are way more destructive than that.  Take a look at a grenade made using shotgun shells:

There’s also the five dollar grenade.  A grenade that can be made at home by spending only, you guessed it, $5.

This one is close to the real thing.  There’s also a pin that you’re going to pull if you’re going to arm it.  If you will check closely at the black part of the picture, you can see the BB’s that will do the damage.

It’s not just grenades although a grenade is preferred by most people for its effectiveness and efficiency.  There are other explosives that are designed for certain situations like a land mine.  A land mine is a notorious weapon that still does a lot of damage today.  Needless to say, this is very dangerous and very illegal:

In a way, landmines operate like booby traps which are also patterned after complex designs.  Obviously, it has to be complex to avoid detection.  There are a lot of designs although the trip wire trap is a popular one:

Trip Wire Booby Trap

As you can see, booby traps are often designed to blend in with the surroundings or use the surroundings to be hidden.  The tall grass covers the explosive part of the trap while the wire that’s attached to the safety pin is unnoticeable being thin.  Once someone trips the wire, it will pull out the safety pin and the heavy firing pin will fall to the detonator.  The detonator will then detonate the explosives.

Needless to say, there’s a reason why these advanced designs of custom weapons are very effective.  They’re made using the most effective materials available but still, they can easily be made at home.
